The Pelican “The Catch” 100 fishing kayak is built for ease of use.
It’s the smallest vessel in The Catch family of kayaks and is crafted to offer maneuverability and stability in a lightweight package.
It includes a dual position high-back seat.
- Length: 10 foot
- Width: 34 inches
- Weight: 54 pounds
- Weight Capacity: 350 pounds
This boat may be better suited to smaller paddlers because of its size and capacity. It can also be ideal if you don’t plan to take a lot of heavy fishing gear with you.
If you have a lot of equipment or want more space to move around you may find a larger boat with a higher capacity more suitable.
What To Think About Before Buying The Catch 100
The Catch 100 is a 10 foot sit-on-top fishing kayak that can be ideal for shorter trips. With its short hull it can be convenient for storage and easier to transport. It can also be easier to maneuver when you’re on the water, making it ideal for smaller bodies of water.
It has a wide, stable hull which can be ideal for standing and casting. This can also make it a good boat for beginners, as it may feel a little less tippy compared to some other vessels.
There are several other boats within The Catch family, including The Pelican Catch 130 Hydryve II, also known as the Pelican Catch 130HD – which is a 12 foot 6 inch pedal kayak. The Catch 120 is the larger version of The Catch 100, measuring 11 foot 8 inches and having a higher 400 pound capacity, which could be ideal if you want more leg room.
While The Catch 100 is designed primarily for angling, with features such as built-in rod holders, it could still be a good vessel if you’re after a stable, compact craft for paddling in a variety of locations.
Features Of The Pelican Catch 100
Stable Platform
One of the main features of the Pelican Catch is its stability. This is thanks to a patented tunnel shaped hull, which is designed to offer optimum stability in a range of waters, but particularly on flatwater.
The boat has a standing platform on the deck, with anti-slip carpet, so that you can stand up for better casting. The seat can also be flipped up to give you more room to move around.
To help you get your balance when you stand up, there’s also a stand-assist strap at the front of the deck.
Add Your Own Accessories
The Catch can be a good choice if you’re looking for a boat that can let you add your own accessories for a more customized fishing vessel. It benefits from having four flush-mounted rod holders conveniently located near the seat.
You also have the opportunity to add additional rod holders or mount your electronics using the two built-in gear tracks on the sides of the deck.
There are two paddle holders with bungee tie-downs, so that you can keep your paddle safely stowed while you’re fishing, on whatever side of the deck you prefer. The spare paddle holder can be used for holding additional rods or fishing nets.
You’ll also find two accessory eyelets which can be ideal for attaching a paddle leash or securing other items to the deck.
Fishing Gear Storage
The Catch is a spacious vessel considering its compact size. The large rear tank well features bungee rigging and can be ideal for holding a crate or cooler for a day on the water. At the front there’s a quick-lock hatch that can be great for storing some of your gear below deck. It can also be ideal for holding the battery for your fish finder.

You’ll find additional storage in the handy pockets on the seat, which can be useful for items that you want to keep close by.
Paddle In Comfort
A handy feature of this boat is the Ergocast G2 Dual Position Seating System. This can let you sit either higher or lower in the kayak depending on whether you’re paddling or fishing.
The seat has a rigid frame and mesh fabric for breathability. You can also add extra padding in the seat back for improved lumbar support, and you can increase the level of support underneath the seat by adjusting the strap.
The seat can be removed for easy transportation and storage, and you can even use it as a beach chair if you want to relax after your fishing trip.
For increased paddling support and stability, there are adjustable sliding foot braces.
This stable boat is ideal for casting lots of lines and it seems this user agrees with us:
Casted a bunch. Didn’t catch a fish but felt good the whole time. It’s not cheap but appears to be a great fishing kayak. Pelican Catch 100. pic.twitter.com/BmYz9l2e6R
